Hallo Readers,
If WTF were to suggest – without foundation – in this blog that someone was a supporter of Hamas and should be given the elbow immediately because of it, she would likely be sued for libel. Because the suggestion was without foundation, she would be unable to defend the claim, assuming she had the money to do so, and would end up with a large bill for damages, the claimants’ costs and her own costs, even if she had thrown in the towel early. In the case of Michelle Donelan, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, her baseless allegation that Professor Kate Sang was an extremist and a Hamas sympathiser resulted in a settlement for a modest £15,000 and although there was no admission of liability, Donelan acknowledged there was no evidence that the Professor was an extremist or that she sympathised with, or supported, Hamas. Fortunately for Donelan, she does not have to foot the bill for this ridiculous and unsubstantiated allegation. Instead, it is to be met by Tom and Tilly Tosser, the taxpayers, because Donelan was purportedly acting in her capacity as a Government minister when libelling Sang and so it will not cost her a penny, or it seems, her job.
Donelan’s main claim to fame hitherto was in holding the office of Secretary of State for Education for a massive 35 hours in July 2022 when she was hastily appointed to replace Nadim Zahawi who had replaced a certain Rishi Sunak, who had resigned from Boris Johnson’s Cabinet, thus starting a domino effect which led to the blond buffoon’s demise as Prime Minister. On Thursday, defending her mate, Penny Mordaunt told an incredulous House of Commons that Donelan was as deeply concerned about public expenditure as anyone else which was evidenced by her declining to accept a ministerial termination payment of £16,000 for her 35 hours in charge of the Nation’s education. The nobility of this gesture has been somewhat cancelled out by her failure to stump up for her conduct towards Sang because now she is only £1,000 poorer as opposed to £16,000. Some you win, some you lose.
The irony of course is that this has been made public in the week of the Budget where once again we were lectured about fiscal responsibility and the need to keep the public purse strings under control. But this is yet another instance of our money being thrown around with impunity and without proper responsibility. Tom and Tilly Tosser also paid £245,000 to cover Boris Johnson’s legal bills over the Partygate matter, not to mention gazillions paid to all manner of people who got contracts to manufacture PPE which was not fit for purpose when their only qualification was that they were pals of Tory bigwigs and knew the right phone numbers. Do not expect things to improve anytime soon. We may fill up the bran tub with our taxes but we have very little say in who dips their hands into it.
*******************************************************************************
All our entries for our review of the week’s outrageous outfits come from the Brit Awards last Sunday, starting with singer Young Athena wearing …er…..wings.
If the Angel of the North bared thigh and midriff and wore snakeskin, this is what it would look like. The wings passeth all understanding…..
Now meet Olivia Attwood, former Love Island celebritee and permanent resident of the Daily Mail’s Sidebar of Shame wearing Wardrobe. Careful now….
Olivia posted this ensemble on Instagram and was somewhat surprised when her adoring fans gave it the nostril, opining that it looked cheap and nasty. Which it does. Olivia posted back that women should not be attacking other women, but it is not women who are being attacked here, it is because this is tacky, tacky, tacky. Olivia boasted that she had styled herself. Wardrobe designed the bodysuit to be worn under a long – and buttoned- double breasted jacket. Its look-book featured neither a reinforced gusset nor a pair of tits like iced buns under those lacy covers designed to keep off flies.
Meet musician Jacob Collier wearing lots of colourful things all together.
WTF has three questions. Question number 1. Why is Jacob dressed as a Pride flag? Question number 2. Why has nobody taken a needle and thread to the hems which are ballooning around his feet like flapping sails on a yacht? And Question number 3. Why did no one look at that terminal case of elephant vagina syndrome and do something – like finding him another pair of trousers?
This is singer Caroline Polachek wearing Simone Rocha.
A nightie with buffalo horn boobies and perspex sandals. Don’t hug her for Gawd’s sake.
Here is the band known as The Last Dinner Party (Georgia Davies, Abigail Morris, Emily Roberts, Lizzie Mayland and Aurora Nishevci) wearing a variety of nastiness.
They look as if they have strayed into the event from a Hogarth drawing.
Next up, comedian Rob Beckett wearing a Giraffe.
WTF aficionado Daniel from Stevenage was so incensed by Rob’s costume that he nominated it for It’s Got To Go. So here is It’s Go to Go – early. The bit – or should that be bits – that most upset him? The giraffe genitalia – and he is not wrong. If you want to parade about as the front end of a giraffe at a music awards ceremony, so be it. But not with a dick, please. It’s Got To Go.
Another newcomer, singer Becky Hill wearing straps.
Daniel, being a red-blooded male, expressed great interest in Becky, and it is not hard to see why. It is all out there. WTF however, being more seasoned and not weighed down by a ton of testosterone, feels that Becky’s dress reminds her more of those bandages you wrap around yourself to contour your body.
Finally, Irish singer CMAT (née Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson) wearing Sophie Lincoln. This one is BAD. Actually, make that BAD!!!! As in vomit emoji bad. Scroll down slowly and don’t say you were not warned.
No! NO!! NO!!! Like a poor man’s Adele with arse-crack, back-tits and the world’s stupidest handbag.
OK Readers, that’s your lot for this week. Please keep sending in your suggestions for It’s Got To Go and your top comments, which WTF likes more than anything. Let us meet again next Friday when we will mull upon the Oscars Red Carpet. Be good x
